Do we ever really understand?

I sit here today thinking about last night and the wonderful celebration of our girl Betty who had a special birthday yesterday.  As friends, we cooked our favorite foods and spent the night together laughing, dancing, remembering and just plain having fun being together.  We even let the men in our lives be part of the night.  We talked about our next "event".  We coordinated schedules and calendars.  Where would we be dining later this month at Restaurant Week?  I believe it's Gayle's turn to choose.  We made plans for dinner at my home the following month.  We always look for a way to be together and somehow it always comes back to food.

As fate would have it, and in the blink of an eye, things change.  As friends we will be together again this coming week as a good friend lost her Mom.  Our family also lost a beautiful soul yesterday and I will be cooking today, but not to create a new dish or take pictures, but to help provide some comfort to the family.  Rest in peace, Mark.

Life is sometimes difficult and when it is, there is always the comfort of having your family and friends right next to you.

Fino a quel momento (until that time)
